Oral sex is raising cancer risk

A new study shows that a spike in head and neck cancers in straight men over the last 30 years is probably due to HPV contracted from oral sex. Experts say 70 percent of head and neck cancers are caused by HPV.

Italians take to the streets for unions bill

Thousands packed the streets in Milan this weekend to support a bill that would legalize same-sex unions in Italy, currently under debate in the senate. Italy remains one of the only Western nations with neither civil union nor marriage protection for same-sex couples.

Condomless sex increasing

According to the CDC, condom use among men who have sex with men in the US is declining, with two-thirds saying they had condomless sex in the last year. The same report shows, however, that more men are using other prevention methods, from PrEP to seropositioning.

Indonesian argues over LGBT student groups

Indonesia’s minister of higher education sparked a public fight on Twitter and in the media when he said LGBT support groups in universities would corrupt the nation’s morals, and should be banned. The comments prompted angry pushback from the Indonesian LGBT community, and calls for more responsible journalism about Indonesian LGBT people.

Activists: Yes, the HRC is the establishment

US presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has walked back his claim that American gay activism juggernaut The Human Rights Campaign is part of “the establishment.” Some gay activists, however, say that Sanders was right, and the HRC often represents mainstream gay interests at the expense of the most marginalized.
