Born this way? The debate continues

After Australian writer Simon Copland and British neuroscientist Qazi Rahman published dueling articles in The Guardian over whether gay folk are “born this way,” American developmental psychologist Lisa Diamond has weighed in to say that things are a bit more complicated than they appear. Diamond, who studies sexual fluidity, says that, while many gay people are born immutably gay, many more experience changes or shifts in sexual orientation throughout their lifetimes.

Swedish parade pits gays against Muslims

Swedish right-wing nationalists are planning to pit gay rights against Muslim immigrants by deliberately running a Pride parade through Muslim neighbourhoods of Stockholm. Critics of the parade call it “an expression of pure racism,” while supporters say defending Muslims who might feel uncomfortable about gay Pride is a symptom of “the pathetic Left.”

Trans modeling agency opens in Los Angeles

Apple Model Management will open its doors this summer as the first trans-only modeling agency in Los Angeles. Apple is a branch of a Thai agency that represents both trans and cis models. The new LA office already has six trans women on its roster.
