Mark Ruffalo is in Toronto promoting his new film,Thanks for Sharing, at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Xtra chatted with Ruffalo about his upcoming role in the screen adaptation of The Normal Heart, the Larry Kramer play about the early days of the AIDS crisis in New York.

“I hope to do it all the justice that it deserves and that all the people who have lost their lives to that terrible disease [deserve],” Ruffalo says.

“It’s really about the people standing up for what is right, ultimately, and it’s about activism.”

The Normal Heart is scheduled to start production in the spring of 2013. Thanks for Sharing is screening at TIFF.
