NSRAP wants a few good queers (and their friends too!)

If there were a movie trailer for the Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project’s Community Hero Awards, it would probably start with a deep voice, announcing:

“In a world full of negativity, one group wanted to shine a light on the good in the world . . .”

Okay, rnough hyperbole.

There is an element of truth in that overzealous statement. Sometimes it’s good to take a moment and reflect on the hard work and dedication of individuals and organizations who work to make things better for the LGBT community. That’s what the Community Hero Awards are for: to thank and praise those who do the hard work that many people benefit from.

According to its website, NSRAP is looking for nominations for four awards:

The Reverend Darlene Young Community Hero Award, the Raymond Taavel Media Award, the Allies Award and the Corporate Stewardship Award. Former winners include prideHealth and Marshall Haywood. Nominations are due by Aug 14, at 6pm. Check out NSRAP’s website for more information about the awards and more.
