Pride lingers on

First pics of the week

Pride is over, but that doesn’t mean that the week’s parties, dances, art shows, workshops, competitions and fun will be forgotten.

Xtra was out and about at some of the events.

On Thurs, Aug 26, Venus Envy presented Reading Out Loud 6! The annual event is a celebration of queer literature. Megan Butcher hosted the evening, introducing each reader with wit, humour and sincerity, while also treating the audience to a piece of her own.

Participants included writer and journalist Marcus McCann, sex educator Jayda Kelsall, lawyer Karin Galldin, community organizer Jeremy Dias and DJ and activist Oliver (Ghaida).

Pink Triangle Services and Jer’s Vision teamed up with Capital Pride to host the Capital Youth Pride prom. Touted as “this ain’t your high school prom,” youth from ages 14 to 25 primped it up for the evening.
