Online MEDIA PLANNER (Toronto)

Pink Triangle Press is looking for an Online Media Planner to drive quality traffic to PTP’s websites. This position is responsible for identifying the best mix of media channels to deliver advertising messages to the Press’ target audience to produce maximum exposure, within budget.  

If you are the right person for this role, you are able to achieve and exceed monthly and annual targets of the following metrics in regards to overall traffic and traffic type; including but not limited to: site visits, membership, revenue, bounce rate, CPA, ROI, and registration conversation rate.

You will have additional proven skills and experience including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Obtaining, analyzing, and successfully applying  media and traffic generation trends, best practices and strategies in the  online industry (with special attention to the gay and lesbian industry) to drive quality traffic to PTP  websites
  • Analyzing and researching the target audience’s character, purchasing, and media habits
  • Presenting media proposals, including timings and cost breakdowns, helping the Press to reach a final decision about their future advertising strategy
  • Managing budgets and maintaining advertising spend records
  • Monitoring and analyzing competition for media, PR, SEO, SEM and traffic generation activities
  • Utilizing tools (including but not limited to: Google, Bing, Facebook, and tier II and III search engines and traffic generators) to drive quality traffic
  • Expanding and optimizing SEO and SEM keyword lists
  • Identifying key performance indicators related to media, and online traffic generation activities

Required Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Business
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in the field of online marketing, e-commerce, marketing communication
  • Proven strong analytical acumen and experience
  • Proven success of managing online campaigns, media relation and traffic generation
  • Knowledge of internet industry (interactivity, connectivity, e-commerce and enterprise)
  • Experience with web tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, Yahoo, Bing ads, Traffic generator tools
  • Knowledge of sexual politics and history
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (oral and written)

Pink Triangle Press, the producer of and is looking for a senior leader who will lead our mission to foster and renew sexual liberation in the 21st century. We are searching for an innovative Executive Director who will inspire, engage, challenge, and lead debate within the organization and in our communities, while further developing our business model to ensure the long-term sustainability of our mission-based operations.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading the Pink Triangle Press team in achieving its mission and objectives. A leader of both people and strategy, the Executive Director will inspire and energize management and staff alike as they meet the challenge of competing in an ever-changing digital environment. The Executive Director is the keeper of the mission who ensures that the organization stays true to its initial values and goals.

The Executive Director will work closely with a seasoned senior management team to achieve the goals and priorities set out in the PTP strategic plan. A leader with strong business acumen, they will focus on execution and innovation in a constantly changing digital landscape. 
Overseeing senior managers of Finance, Digital Business, Mission Engagement, and Talent, the Executive Director will recognize when to take a hands-on or hands-off approach in his or her leadership. 

The Executive Director will focus on achieving PTP’s strategic plan, the major components of which are:

Key Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience leading a digital publishing, online dating or related business (including social media publishing)
  • 5+ years’ experience managing the work of a senior executive team
  • Experience leading an audience-engagement or subscription based internet business
  • Knowledge of the principles of journalism, leadership and management
  • Knowledge of web publishing, managing technology teams and digital product development
  • Strong business acumen, including a sound understanding of financial management

VIDEOGRAPHER/EDITOR (Contract position, Toronto)
Daily Xtra’s video department is seeking a contract Videographer/Editor (until September, 2017) to join our team in the Toronto office.
In this position you will be responsible for editing broadcast level Electronic Field Production (EFP) stories, documentaries, multimedia stories, projects, and series. You will also light and shoot stories as required.

  • If you are the right person for this role, you will have additional proven skills and experience including, but not limited to the following:
  • 2.3 years of experience as both a Videographer and Editor
  • A degree in Broadcasting or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Comfort working with Mac systems
  • Experience with and have advanced working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and a working knowledge of Illustrator
  • Experience with shooting and editing informative and compelling video stories
  • Full knowledge of lighting and audio requirements for digital broadcast
  • The ability to give clear direction to freelancers working remotely in the field
  • Possess an understanding of social media platforms (including YouTube and Facebook) in terms of best practices and formats for user engagement
  • Able to assess and react to rapidly changing situations in the field on shoots
  • The ability to offer creative input to help find the most innovative and effective way to tell a story
  • Must be able to problem solve and suggest solutions to challenges that occur on shoots and in the edit suite
