Comic DeAnne Smith chats about cute girls and the famously queer Mile End

Comic DeAnne Smith sings her “Mile End Love Song” and talks women, festivals and connecting the community through laughter. QUEER MTL

Comic DeAnne Smith loves the relaxed, friendly vibe she encounters daily on the streets of Montreal.

The Upstate New York native now calls Montreal home, and she recently wrote a lesbian love song about the famously queer Mile End neighbourhood.

In this video interview, after singing her "Mile End Love Song," Smith talks women, festivals and connecting the community through laughter.

Smith, seeming almost embarrassed, admits that among the things she loves most about Montreal is the quality of the people on the street. “I don’t mean to objectify people — but everyone in Montreal is extremely hot,” she laughs, before outlining what she’d do on a first date with a cute girl.

Smith’s song and video interview are part of Do Your Thing in MTL, a new video series by Queer MTL that celebrates some of the best LGBT talents in North America by having them use “the city as their stage.”
