Anne Rice on gay love in her new book and Matt Boner (oops, I mean Bomer)

The second installment in Anne Rice’s The Wolf Gift Chronicles, The Wolves of Midwinter, has two gay characters: Margon, an ancient werewolf; and Stuart, a cherubic, curly haired teen wolf. In the book, Rice compares their relationship to that of Zeus and his boy Ganymede.

When I sat down to interview Rice at the Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver, I asked her if we’re going to see the relationship develop more as the The Wolf Gift progresses. I also probed her about a gender-ambiguous character, Lisa, introduced in the series who starts a relationship with a straight married man. Is Lisa a woman? Is Lisa a man? Does it matter?

As articulate and insightful as ever, Rice also talked about Catholicism and Matt Bomer (or Boner, as far as I’m concerned). Check it out:
