Author Orson Scott Card’s anti-gay rant

Today's queer stories that have people talking

Not all sci-fi nerds are harmless — in the Mormon Times (but of course), acclaimed author Orson Scott Card published a nasty screed against gay marriage and, once warmed up, all gay people in general. Card offers a nightmare future of homosexual dominion and writes, “How long before opposing gay marriage, or refusing to recognize it, gets you officially classified as “mentally ill”?” I don’t know, Orson, but I’d sure like to be the first. Go read “The Handmaid’s Tale” and take your time about it — Atwood uses big words!

In an interview with ABC News, US presidential candidate John McCain was asked for his position on gay adoption. He replied, “My position is, it’s not the reason why I’m running for president of the United States.” We knew McCain doesn’t like gays but orphans? That’s cold!

Say, today’s my birthday and I’m spending it biking 108km to Lancaster, Ontario. Not the glamourous day I’d hoped for but it’s in support of the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation so, if you DID want to get me a present, please sponsor me and help them continue their great work!
