Before the Last Curtain Falls screens at VIFF

Contemplative film follows aging gay men, drag queens and trans women

Thomas Wallner talks to Daily Xtra about his latest film, Before the Last Curtain Falls. The film documents the lives of six aging crossdressing and transgender performers.

In the above video, Emmy and Gemini Award–winning director Thomas Wallner talks about his latest film, Before the Last Curtain Falls, which will screen at the Vancouver International Film Festival on Sept 25, 26 and 29. The film follows six aging gay men, drag queens and trans women who are touring Europe in a dance performance called Gardenia.

The film laments the loss of youth but doesn’t leave viewers feeling lost. Rather, it raises questions: What is love? What is life well-lived? And what is gay? Sit back and ponder while watching a beautifully shot film.
