Behind the scenes at The Bold and the Beautiful

Xtra looks at GLAAD nominated lesbian storyline in final installment of three-part series

The Bold and the Beautiful has been a mainstay on daytime television for more than 25 years. It has won Emmy awards, legions of adoring fans and this year it is also nominated for a GLAAD Outstanding Daily Drama award.

In the below videos Xtra writer Ted Flett goes behind the scenes at the B&B studios in Hollywood.

In the first video, Flett gets full access to the closets of The Bold and the Beautiful. Prada, Jimmy Choo and Gucci; they are all here.

In the second video in the series things get a bit more serious as Flett sits down with the hunky Jacob Young (Rick Forrester) and silver fox John McCook (Eric Forrester) to talk about gays in soap operas. Could a gay male character be in the future at the B&B?

And in the final video we get the real-life inside story behind the famous lesbian coming out storyline, “Karen Spencer comes out/Caroline’s two moms.” Linsey Godfrey (Caroline Spencer) tells all to Flett.

Will this storyline be enough to land the B&B a GLAAD award? That will be decided at the GLAAD awards in Los Angeles on April 20.

Below are the videos. Enjoy your trip behind the scenes of The Bold and the Beautiful. And read more on Ted Flett’s adventures here. The Bold and the Beautiful airs in the United States on CBS and on CTV in Canada.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
