Breakfast With Scot wins big at youth film fest

Film challenges stereotypes about sexuality

HOCKEY DADS. In Breakfast With Scot, two macho gay guys are forced to look after a flamboyant 11-year-old. The film challenges the audience to throw out stereotypes about sexuality and gender.

Breakfast With Scot was a big winner at this year’s Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth.

The film won two awards: the Senior Youth Jury Award for Best Picture and the Edith Lando Peace Prize, an award that recognizes films that “best convey the values of empathy, non-violence, inclusion and respect”.

Xtra.ca sat down with Venay Felton, the festival’s executive director and Out On Screen’s Ross Johnstone to talk about the important messages in the film. Check out the video report below! (runs 2 minutes)
