Chantelois steps down at 519

The 519 Church Street Community Centre held its annual general meeting on Sep 30.

The 519 appears in solid financial shape with a small reported deficit on revenue of $2.1 million for 2008. Fifteen percent of The 519’s operating budget for the year came from user fees and fundraising. Seventy-four percent came from various government grants. And 11 percent came from the United Way. Salaries and wages were far and away the largest expense.

A new board of directors was elected at the meeting. They are Pascal Dessureault, Natasha Garda, Jodi Hoar, Troy Jackson, Lee Mark Schofield, Rudy Ticzon and Kira Vallen.

After five years on the board, three as chair, Mathieu Chantelois stepped down to make room for new members.
