Fattening up the acronym

Andrew Sullivan ponders adding 'FA' for fat to LGBTQIA

Writer Andrew Sullivan recently pondered whether the letters "FA," for fat, should be added to the LGBTQIA acronym.

He explores the idea in his blog The Dish, weaving in Village Voice writer Camille Dodero's thoughts about the "parallels between the push for gay rights and the fat-acceptance movement," and writer Anna Mollow's article for Bitch Magazine where she theorizes that "homophobia is very similar to the prejudice experienced by obese people."

As Sullivan notes, at least it would give us another vowel.
