The former site of Slack’s will be re-opening as an event space, possibly as soon as Pride weekend on July 1, 2016.

Robert Mulvale, vice president of retail leasing at WAM Development, confirmed to Daily Xtra that 562 Church St could soon be open for business. Passers-by may have noticed that the space was being cleaned out — it’s been the first sign of life since Slack’s shut its doors in 2013.

“We may have someone renting it on a temporary basis for Pride,” Mulvale says. “Nobody’s confirmed yet. If that happens that would basically be your first opportunity to see it in action being used in that way.”

While the project is in its infancy, WAM intends to rent the space to event planners on a case-by-case basis. As of now, there are no plans for the venue to function as a public bar with regular hours.
