Places to dance in Toronto may be going the way of the dinosaur lately, but don’t tell that to the organizers of WorldPride, who have just announced the final list of acts appearing at this year’s Pride festivities — and the opportunities for dancing are abundant.
The Pop Goes Pride stage, in partnership with MTV, will feature Fefe Dobson, Molly Thomason, Carly Rae Jepsen and Dragonette. You can get a taste of their hits by way of the exclusive WorldPride Songza playlist organizers have put together, then check out the WorldPride Playlist party, featuring local heroes DJ Sumation, Blackcat and Recklezz.
Among the new names announced at the May 22 press conference are “American Boy” hitmaker Estelle, Peaches (who will be joined by Toronto’s own Light Fires), Diana King, Jully Black and vogue masters the House of Xtravaganza.
If fist-pumping is more your thing, you will be pleased to know that Against Me! and The Cliks will rock out the Yonge-Dundas Square stage, for the TransPride showcase. Lydia Lunch and Pansy Division will bring the punk to the Alterna-Queer stage.
Closing out the festival with a bang, on Sunday, June 29, are Robin S, CeCe Peniston, Rich Aucoin and Hunter Valentine, bringing their pop-savvy hits to Yonge-Dundas Square.
The festival is overflowing with options, and organizers have made sure there’s something for every taste.
