Gay man murdered in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service has opened a homicide investigation in the death of 49-year-old gay man Alan Lanteigne.

Lanteigne was found dead in his Ossington Ave home on March 3. Police say there were obvious signs of trauma to his body.

Check out the Toronto Star account here, the TPS presser here and Lanteigne’s Facebook page here.

Xtra will have more on this in the coming days. In the meantime, now seems a good time to look back on a few murders in Toronto that remain unsolved: There's Chris Skinner, who was beaten to the ground and crushed to death under the wheels of an SUV in October of 2009. There's Ross Magill, who was stabbed to death in the foyer of his home in July of 2008. There's the case of David Buller, who was murdered in his office at the University of Toronto in 2001….

There are also the cases of Eric Jones, Richard Hovey and the still unidentified Markham Man.
