Insite supporters take to the Hill

While Clement vows to appeal BC court decision, supporters rally

Dozens of supporters of Vancouver’s safe injection site gathered on Parliament Hill Jun 5, urging the federal government to support the health facility.

Insite won a key court battle May 27, when a BC judge ruled that the facility has a constitutional right to stay open until at least June 2009. But the Conservative government has pledged to appeal the court’s decision.

Liberal MP Hedy Fry told that federal Health Minister Tony Clement is “knowingly condemning people to death by denying” the research that shows Insite has saved lives.
