John Greyson and Tarek Loubani speak to their supporters for the first time since being released from an Egyptian prison YouTube

John Greyson and Tarek Loubani have released a video thanking those who supported them and lobbied for their release from an Egyptian prison, where they were held for 51 days.

Egyptian officials released the pair from prison on Oct 5, but they remain in the country awaiting clearance to return to Canada.

Loubani, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at Western University, was on his way to a Gaza Strip hospital as part of an academic collaboration. Greyson, a professor in York University's film department, was tagging along, documenting the trip for an upcoming film.
