Maite Oronoz Rodríguez has been appointed to Puerto Rico’s Supreme Court, hailed as its first out gay member, NBC reports.

Governor Alejandro García Padilla nominated Oronoz Rodríguez, who at 38 is the youngest judge on the court.

In a statement, Padilla said she “represents enthusiasm, dedication to public service and an open and creative mind.”
