Marilyn Monroe/Baphomet wins 2014 Governor General’s Award

My debut novel, When Everything Feels like the Movies, won the Governor General’s Award for Children’s Literature (hide yo kids) and I will be spending my $25,000 cash prize on drugs and diamonds, in case you had any doubt.

In accompaniment to the book, I’ve released a song called “Like a Movie Star,” with proceeds benefiting Out in Schools. The organization is important to me because not only do they educate youth on homophobia and transphobia, but they do it by getting kids away from their desks and making films.

The video was shot on a farm in Langley in the middle of the night. It was pouring rain and freezing, but we didn’t give any fucks — a benefit of being possessed:
