Murder trial date set

The trial of a Port Coquitlam man charged with the murder of another man is expected to get underway Jun 2, 2008 in BC Supreme Court.

A pre-trial confirmation hearing will take place Apr 24, to be followed by jury selection a month later.

Kenneth Jensen is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of George Ammon Kong.

New Westminster provincial court judge Pedro deCouto ruled Oct 23 that evidence presented at Jensen’s preliminary hearing last month was compelling enough for Jensen to stand trial.

New Westminster police found Kong’s body Jan 23 when they entered his home to check on him after he failed to show up for work three days in a row.

Autopsy results released shortly after Kong’s death show he was killed, and an investigation spearheaded by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team revealed that Kong and the accused made arrangements to meet for the first time through an internet dating service.
