I Come From Nothing

This art show includes work by Jay LeBlanc, Aimée Rivet, Delphine Sullivan, Robbie Lariviere and Mique Michelle. Folks also enjoy a performance by The True Man Show. Between 50–100 percent of proceeds go to Venus Envy’s bursary fund.

Saturday, July 4, 7:30pm. Venues Envy, 226 Bank St, Ottawa.

Meet the Artists

Andrew Moor, José Fontaine, Lydia Labonte, Stanton John Lowe — a variety of artists whose work is on display in the store are on hand to mingle with customers. Attendees get a glass of wine and are entered into a draw for a gift certificate to the shop. RSVP required.

Wednesday, July 8, 6pm. After Stonewall, 370 Bank St, Ottawa.

Paint Nite II

The Feminist Twins supply the paint, brushes and canvas — you bring yourself and your creativity (and the entrance fee, which will be donated to Pink Triangle Services). Attendees are encouraged to paint on the theme of “small victories.”

Wednesday, July 8, 6:30pm. Pressed, 750 Gladstone Ave, Ottawa.

Bar Hopping

Canada Day Celebration and BBQ

Gay men celebrate Canada Day in a manner that would make Sir John A Macdonald proud: getting smashed while eating barbecued meat and being heckled by drag queen Tatyana Romanov. Oh, and there’s a 50/50 draw too.

Wednesday, July 1, 4pm. Centretown Pub, 340 Somerset Dr W, Ottawa.

Gaymer Night

Geeks take a break from watching George R R Martin interviews on YouTube and planning that next AR Drone purchase to come together for an evening of  playing Rock Band on PlayStation 3. Those disinclined to rock out can play one of the many other games also available.

Tuesday, July 14, 6pm. Swizzles, 246 Queen St, Ottawa.

Thinking Outside the Box

Have you ever found yourself losing interest midway through the act? One of you wanders off to make a sandwich and the other doesn’t even notice? Designed to shake you out of your usual routine, this workshop includes tips on how to better please your female partners.

Monday, July 13, 6:30pm. Venus Envy, 226 Bank St, Ottawa.
