Art Show at SBC: Best Trick Contest

I was all set to do my one-eared elephant trick but as I proceeded to pull out a substantial trunk, I learned that I may have been a bit mistaken. This show combines skateboarding, art, music and Eastside culture in a fundraiser for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre. Come support a good cause and show off your best skateboarding manoeuvre. 8pm. SBC Restaurant, 109 East Hastings St. Enter by donation. For info here on Facebook.

Saturday, April 25

Eastside Flea Market

Had I known I was going to live to a ripe old age where my old clothing could be sold as “vintage” I never would have tossed it out. With 40 vendors under one roof, you can find everything from clothing to succulent treats for sale, and the eye candy of men shopping for a bargain isn’t bad either! Come early before the items, and the men, are picked over. 10am-4pm. WISE Hall, 1882 Adanac St. $2 admission, all ages welcome. eastsideflea.com

Plur Productions Spring Fling Disco Play Party

I’ve never been to a play party with an interactive workshop scene where questions can be asked of the top and bottom before and after the act. The whole night is so intriguing that I may go myself! Lots of intimate play spaces for everything from “simply grinding to full sex,” plus dungeon furniture, mattresses and tunes from DJs Kasey Riot and Hayden Wood. 9pm–3am. Club 8×6, 1775 Haro St. $20 before 10pm, $30 after. More info here on Facebook.

Sunday, April 26

Out For Kicks jersey night

Summer soccer brings back such memories, like where the only balls kicked around the field were mine! Tonight all the players get together, pick up their jerseys and celebrate the upcoming season with new teammates and supporters. Remember to bring your $50 jersey deposit. 5-8pm. All Star Wings, 808 Bute St (second floor). More info here on Facebook.

Musical Bingo Monday

As if I didn’t have enough trouble with my dabber, now it’s a whole new kind of bingo. Instead of numbers, they play bits of songs and you have to find them on your cards. Dance in your seat, dabber in hand, and win some great prizes and you get to help out Women Against Violence Against Women at the same time. 8pm. Astoria Pub, 769 East Hastings St. $5 at door. More info here on Facebook.

Rent Cheque

Come in, get naked and walk away with a big chunk of change — sounds like some of my past dates. But this is all legal. Some may call it a “live nude performance art competition” but the organizers prefer the term “complete flesh mayhem” and they “guarantee it’s just a hot fucking mess that you will wish you remembered in the morning.” It’s a boo-free strip zone, open to all genders and skill levels. 9pm–1am. The Astoria Pub, 769 East Hastings St. RSVP to rentchequeintheass@gmail.com (I can’t make this stuff up!) with your peeling song and you will get priority placement for your performance and free admission. Otherwise it is $5 cover. More info here on Facebook.
