Thursday, Dec 17

XYYVR Live

Put your minds at ease: Ryan Steele will not be singing tonight (dodged a bullet there!). Tonight the top three from XY Factor (winner Baron Von Swenson and runner-ups Kendall Wooding and Bradley Barkman) will perform singly and in duets in a live showcase with lots of holiday music to get you in the spirit. Ryan will be there, of course, but trying to fill you with a whole different kind of spirit, mainly vodka. 8pm–2am. XYYVR, 1216 Bute St. Admission $5. More information on Facebook.

Friday, Dec 18

Loving Spoonful’s Drive-Thru Breakfast

Stop by, enjoy a great breakfast courtesy of the Fountainhead Pub and make a donation (minimum $5, in food or cash) to A Loving Spoonful to help them provide free, nutritious meals to people living with HIV. All before heading to work! 6–9am. Fountainhead Pub, 1025 Davie St. alovingspoonful.org

A Christmas Story

I don’t know why, but this movie always gets me going, and not in a good way. I get so jealous of little Ralphie that I just want his air rifle to break. Tonight’s screening may be more fun, though, as Vancouver’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will present the holiday classic with a few classic touches of their own. Join them and your donations will support the AIDS Vancouver Holiday Grocery, Out in Schools and Directions Youth Services. 8–11pm. The Junction, 1138 Davie St. Entrance by donation. More information on Facebook.

P-CAN Naked Christmas Party

I have my special holiday outfit all picked out for this: a nice red ribbon tied around my hips with a big piece of mistletoe hanging just below my belly button. No need to be shy, drop and kiss as many times as you’d like as we party naked all night long with the Pacific Canadian Association of Nudists. 8pm–2am. 8×6, 1775 Haro St. Cover $15 at door, $10 for members. p-can.org

Saturday, Dec 19

XXX Holiday Plur Party

I have yet to hit one of these parties but I’m very interested in going. Who wants to take me? Plur bills itself as Vancouver’s premier sex-on-premises production company and community-builder for sex-positive, fetish, LGBTQ and kinky people. Come mingle, socialize and play at their holiday party tonight. 9pm–3am. 8×6, 1775 Haro St. Tickets $15 at plurproductions.ca and at the door if available.

Tim Burton Theme Ball

So many things I want to attend — and all on the same night! Anyone have a couple of spare Viagra? I’m a sucker for theme parties and think of the possibilities with Tim Burton-inspired costumes! Anything can happen. Burlesque, fire performance, Burton-inspired drag by Jane Smoker and Valynne Vile. What more do you need? It’s like Halloween for Christmas, adult style. 9pm. The Hindenburg, 23 West Cordova. Tickets $15 at ticketzone.com or Deadly Couture, 317 Cambie St. More information on Facebook.

TOMBOY: How The Empire Stole Christmas

Del Stamp must be freaking out. A Star Wars-themed Christmas party along with Star Wars drag? I bet they could use Del as C-3PO, if the suit has a large access panel in the back. Come down and see Grinch Vader on the hunt for Yulewalker, stealing presents from everyone. Brought to you by DJ Kasey Riot and Tomboy. 10pm–3am. The Media Club, 695 Cambie St. Cover $10. More information on their Facebook event page.

22nd Annual Women’s Winter Faire

I have waited for this event to finish off my shopping for all the women in my life. One of the best events from Sounds & Furies, this fair showcases original works from more than 50 women, artisans from the Lower Mainland, Gulf Islands and Victoria. Runs today and Sunday, 11am–5pm both days. The Heritage Hall, 3102 Main St. Donation at door supports Syrian refugees. Check Facebook for more information.

Cutting Edges Christmas Party

I’m definitely an ass man and we know from Score parties that Cutting Edges hockey players have the best asses around. They won’t be in jockstraps tonight but I’m still going to try to identify each one from my perfect memory. Today is their Christmas party for members past and present, so if you’re a long-time athletic supporter stop by and say hi to some of the hottest athletes in town. 4–7pm. The Fountainhead Pub, 1025 Davie St. No cover. Check out their Facebook event page.

Sunday, Dec 20

Queers & Beers

If you’re wondering how I get my full figure look, it’s because my downfall is beer — and my second downfall is queers, which is why this club has a special place in my heart. If you love beer in all its many forms and flavours, then this club s for you. Once a month they pick a time and a brewery, meet up and get their growlers filled. Come with a friend, as a couple, or even come alone and start making new friends. 6–9pm. Callister Brewing Company, 1338 Franklin St. Find out more on Facebook.

Monday, Dec 21

Condom Party

I know it’s weird: being at Pumpjack and actually having a condom in your hand (that hasn’t already been used, I mean). Tonight the Health Initiative for Men is at PJs trying to fill gift packs with condoms and lube for the holiday rush. Tourists can’t be expected to remember to bring everything, you know. Drop by Pumpjack and help fill the packs and get to know a great group of guys. Plus, you’ll end the night with a great meal donated by one of the village’s restaurants. If you’re really lucky, you may even find someone to share one of the packs you just packed before bed. 6–9pm. Pumpjack Pub, 1167 Davie St. checkhimout.ca

Naked Yoga

The holidays are here and, if you’re like me, you need a class that will keep your stomach tight even as you consume 45 pounds of turkey and snacks. Something about being naked makes me a lot more conscious of the parts that protrude (at least the ones I can control). Led by professional yoga instructors like Sequoia, who will guide even a novice through the steps to reach flexibility and body acceptance. 7–8:30pm. Club 8×6, 1775 Haro St. Cost $15. Bring water, a yoga mat, a towel and anything else you need for yoga. 8×6.ca

Tuesday, Dec 22

Jingle Balls: Get Cho Jingle On

I don’t know why, but this event makes me giggle like a schoolgirl. (Maybe because when I hear Jingle Balls, I think of little testicles.) But tonight is a fundraiser for the Rhinestone Phoenix Charity Foundation, which helps various charities around the city, featuring drag queens Casha Only, Mona Funtasy Bravo, Ilona, and Lil Kebby. 9pm. The Junction, 1138 Davie St. $3 suggested donation to get you on Santa’s nice list. More information on Facebook.

(Think there’s an upcoming event I should attend? Click here to list your event on dailyxtra.com or send me a note at oitc.vancouver@dailyxtra.com.)

: Man about town scurrying into every bar, restaurant, nook and cranny looking for all the details to post the events you want to see. Drop me a line if you want your GLBT themed event, meeting, social, gathering, play party, circle jerk, listed online or even if you are one short for your orgy. I always aim to please.....unless its your eye...ouch!!!
