A Toronto Police Service investigation is looking into the disappearances of three men from the Church-Wellesley Village area.
Officers from 51 Division canvassed residents and businesses on Church Street June 6, CTV News reports.
The three men all have a similar appearance and went missing between 2010 and 2012, according to a police news release.
Toronto Police Detective Deb Harris, who is leading the investigation, was not available for comment at press time.
The investigation began with the disappearance of Skandaraj “Skanda” Navaratnam, 40, who was last seen leaving Zipperz on Sept 6, 2010. After his disappearance, friends posted signs around the Village and in Cabbagetown, where Navaratnam lived. They also started a Facebook page dedicated to finding him. Abdulbasir “Basir” Faizi, 42, who was reported missing on Dec 29, 2010, and Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan, 59, who also lived in the Church and Wellesley area, are also missing. Kayhan was last seen on Oct 14, 2012.
CTV Toronto’s Tamara Cherry reports that police would not say whether the case is being investigated as a possible “serial killer,” but “homicide investigators are watching closely.”
