Popping culture: Sex in porn vs sex in real life

Sometimes, porn is to sex as food photography is to cooking.

Sure, there are moments when things are just at the right temperature and everything fits in just the right places in just the right way.

But that doesn’t always happen. In fact, it may happen less than we would like it to.

We don’t always feel satisfied with the end result as we would like to. The meal we prepare doesn’t look like the picture. But the picture looks so perfect, we say.

Well there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make things look perfect. There are people who have jobs, and their jobs are to make sure that everything is in its place. And that’s what this video is about.

I believe in the importance of fantasy. I’ve talked to people about this, and I’ve blogged about it here. I can’t speak as to how that fantasy does or does not affect people’s beliefs, emotional states or their behaviours. But it’s important to recognize that fantasies are constructed on both sides. It’s like the Wizard of Oz: don’t peek behind the curtain if you want to believe that everyone is a spontaneous anal bottom or that everyone has a big dick or big tits or a perfect pudenda.

Stop comparing yourself to something you have no control over. Relax. And enjoy the meal.
