Star-studded documentary explores ‘sounding gay’

New York filmmaker David Thorpe has initiated a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for his documentary Do I Sound Gay? about gay men and their voices.

“I’ve always been self-conscious about sounding gay. It’s one of the main things that gives me away as gay,” Thorpe says. “Three years ago, I decided I’d had enough. I knew that my anxiety came from my internalized homophobia telling me gay equals bad, so sounding gay equals bad.”

Do I Sound Gay? features candid conversations with Margaret Cho, Tim Gunn, Don Lemon, Dan Savage, David Sedaris and George Takei.

Check out the Kickstarter page to donate and see the film’s trailer.
