TIFF 2012 highlights: hot celebs and hot-button issues

James Franco, Zac Efron, Xavier Dolan and more

The Toronto International Film Festival ran Sept 6 to 16 and, while it lasted, made Toronto the centre of the movie world. Celebrities walked red carpets, producers cut deals and fans swooned.

And if there was even a hint of queer news, Xtra was there:

Cloud Atlas co-director Lana Wachowski talked about why she came out publicly as trans.

The Paperboy director Daniel Lee gushed about seeing Zac Efron in his tighty whities.

And director Xavier Dolan picked up the Best Canadian Feature award for Laurence Anyways.

Below is a highlight reel of our coverage.

On occasion, the number of editors and other staff who contribute to a story gets a little unwieldy to give a byline to everyone. That’s when we use “Xtra Staff” in place of the usual contributor info. If you would like more information on who contributed to a particular story, please contact us here.
