CRAFT LADDIE 2008.
Ornaments and tree toppers and gift tags, oh my! We asked dapper and delightful local artist John Webster to make it easy for do-it-yourselfers everywhere by creating a fabulously festive illustration from which to start.

BARE NECESSITIES & BEYOND.
For the most basic versions of this craft all you need are printer paper, access to the internet and a printer, card stock, scissors, glue and pipe cleaners. But Craft Laddie recommends you make it your own by adorning the basic model with anything and everything that tickles your fancy.

CHEAT SHEET.
Download your own pdf versions of Webster’s wonky wonders. You can choose the full-sized tree topper or go for the compact version for topping smaller trees, ornaments or tags. Print them up in colour or print them in black and white and colour them yourself.

SCISSOR SISTERS.
Cut along the dotted lines. For the three-dimensional version you’ll need four pieces; for the two-dimensional you’ll need two. With Webster’s girl and boy angels you can go all one way or mix and match for that gender-ambiguous angel effect!

STICKY FINGERS.
Glue cut outs back to back. For a sturdier result first glue onto card stock or similarly stiff material. Craft Laddie set the glued sections to dry overnight, pressed between heavy books to keep them from curling.

COMING TOGETHER.
For a three-dimensional craft cut up to the crotch of one piece and down to the crotch on the other then fit together. Craft Laddie recommends gluing a small piece of pipe cleaner between two sides to reinforce the structure. If you’re creating a tree topper this can also serve as a channel for the top branch to stick through.

BRING IT, BITCHES.
Decorate your creations whichever which way you like. Craft Laddie is using a colourful combination of sparkles, sequins, jewels, feathers, artificial flowers, doilies, stickers and pipe cleaners.

HOMO FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
Add a loop of pipe cleaner or ribbon to create hanging ornaments. For the treetop version glue one end of a pipe cleaner up the centre and corkscrew the tail to encircle the top branch. Your crafts are now ready to adorn your Christmas trees, Hanukkah bushes, presents… whatever. Enjoy and happy holidays from the Craft Laddie!
