VIDEO: ‘Oh my!’ George Takei takes it on tour

Star Trek hero and social media activist comes to Vancouver

Xtra talks to Star Trek and social-media star George Takei about his new documentary.

George Takei, who played Sulu on the original Star Trek television series, is coming to Vancouver to speak at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Nov 18.

He is also profiled in the new documentary To Be Takei, but it’s the love of his life who steals the show.

Xtra caught up with Takei in August to talk about the film; his charming, scene-stealing husband, Brad; and what moves the Takeis to fight for LGBT issues.

George Takei will speak at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, 649 Cambie St, on Tues, Nov 18 at 8pm. Get ticket information here.
