Westfest busts into bigger, better space

Site promises to attract larger audiences

To celebrate its eighth year running, Westfest, Westboro’s festival of music, art and life, is busting into a new venue that promises to take it to another level.

The festival, which will be held from June 10 to 12, is moving its main Domicile stage to the corner of Byron and Kirkwood avenues, behind the Superstore. The new space is four times larger than the previous location and features a grassy hill for music lovers to sit and watch their favourite musicians.

With the new space Westfest can expect a larger crowd than the 5,000 fans who visited the Domicile stage in 2010. The stage will open every evening at 5pm, leaving the streets free during the day for performance arts, street theatre and spoken word.

Another first in 2011 will be a fully licensed Domicile stage. In previous years, only certain areas were licensed, separating beer drinkers from the rest of the concertgoers.
