What happened to the gay dancers who toured with Madonna?

The man who created voguing will speak at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival

Strike A Pose screens at the 2016 Vancouver Queer Film Festival.

Twenty-five years after Madonna’s Blond Ambition World Tour wowed audiences around the world, challenged sexual boundaries and set gay hearts aflutter, the film Strike A Pose captures what really went on behind the scenes, and what happened to her dancers when the tour ended.

Daily Xtra met one of the dancers, Jose Gutierez, when he was in Toronto for the film’s screening at Hot Docs 2016.

Touring the world with Madonna at age 18 was “the opportunity of a lifetime,” he says. But was he ready for it?

Watch our interview above, and watch Gutierez vogue.
