WORST. CHRISTMAS GIFT. EVER.

The fate of a portion of Somerset House hangs in the balance as Capital Xtra issue 180 went to print. Part of the east side of the building, located the corner of Somerset and Bank, was torn down Dec 11, nearly two months after a collapse shut down the intersection. The area houses more than a dozen gay businesses within a couple of blocks, including Centretown Pub, Wilde’s, After Stonewall, The Buzz, Breathless and Venus Envy. The intersection remained closed until Dec 18, and pedestrian traffic has been light throughout the holiday shopping season.
